69 Highboy value

Hey, new member here. I had someone contact me today on trading their 69 f250 highboy for my truck. I don't have much info on their truck, have a few pics. But, I'm trying to see if it would be a fair trade so if anyone could give me a little info on the trucks value on the little I have on info. And other things I should ask the guy about the truck. That would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
What he told me 69 f250 highboy ranger 390 4sd.

For something like this you need to go and poke around the truck yourself. Just from the pictures you can see rust in the doors, hood, drip rail, and cab. Body line looks off on drivers side, could mean cab mounts. Some parts are not the correct year for the truck but that is common with these older vehicles. It really depends on you and what you want. The value of the truck would vary greatly depending on what part of the country it is in.

I got a little more info from him on the truck this morning. He said it has 83,000mi. no problems runs and drives good. he said the only rust in on the bottom of the doors and its not that bad. And surface rust on the pass bad. I can see there's more, everywhere gembone said. The truck is in CT. He said he's gotten offers for 7k before on the truck.
Here's the pics he sent me this morning.

Do not believe a single word a seller claims, as they lie just like used/new car dealers, lawyers, politicians and ATV evangelists.

The odometer reads to 99999.9 then returns to ZERO.

On sale day, 360's magically become 390's!

390's were not available with 4WD. 1968/76 F100/250: Only V8 available with 4WD: 360.

I'd be very leery of buying a truck, especially one that is 45+ years old, in a state where they use salt on the roads.

He said it has 83,000mi. --
He said he's gotten offers for 7k before on the truck. -- He should have jumped on that. He watches to much TV.

I have seen lots of trucks with only surface rust in running condition sell for $50-3,500. Now when I was living in Florida that would be considered in 'ok' condition but would still only sell for between $2k-3,500. That is if everything on it works, especially the 4x4.

Just my 2 cents. It is only worth what you are will to give for it. Just be sure to go in with eyes wide open and check everything. You never said what truck you were looking to trade. Maybe this would be a step up. Only you can make that decision.

For 7g he should of dumped it off on the guy that offered it to him. With the rust that's visible I'd say around the 3-4g max who knows what's hidden under the paint. Always good going into a sale knowing what your talking about so you can call out any bs that sellers might try to use thinking you don't know much on the truck. What kind of trade is he wanting to do with you? Location varies majorly on these trucks. Something that's worth 4g on the east coast might only be worth 1,500 on the west coast.

A 69 is 45 years old. If it has 83,000 miles, that's 1,845 miles a year. Possible, but not very likely to be true. (Consider that 183,000 miles is still an average of only 4,067 a year.)

Look at the floor pans from the underside. Unless they've been replaced or regularly maintained with undercoating, there's no way they're not rusty (and probably rusted-through).

Is there a headliner? Does it show any moisture stains?

Rust-through in the floor of the bed? Not necessarily a big deal, but when I bought mine, I failed to move the spare tire in the bed, which was covering some holes.

Oil and/or transmission leaks? They will show up on the tie-rods and steering linkage, if not on the ground under the truck.

How does it do from a cold start? Again, my seller had run the truck for a while before I showed up, so it started and ran pretty well, even though, as it turned out, it needed new points and plugs.

It's a cool looking truck, but beware the seller's BS.

I always thought of trades as the person offering the trade is going to be making out better in the deal (why would they offer it, if they weren't) I just have to figure out how much cash I'm asking for on top to make the trade lean in my favor. I'm looking at the truck later today, and thanks for all the info so far on what to keep my eyes on.
