About half the time when I turn on my A/C it just blows hot, like as if I have just the vent on with the fan on high, and of course where I live the air is hot. I can turn it off and on a few times and it will turn to cold, then say 3 start ups in a row its cold as should be... Then goes back to hot, but only after the truck as been turned off. When its on and going it will stay cold. And a few times when starting the truck the temp control panel wont even light up no matter what I push. Turn the truck of and back on and it will come on.
I'm thinking its prolly the switch going bad but thought I'd ask you fellers here if there is any kind of solenoid that works in conjunction with it before I set out looking for a new or replacement switch panel. Anyone have any thoughts or similar experiences?
You don't say what year truck or wether you have the electronic or manual control ac system? Sounds like the electronic system and the head unit, electronic control, is going out.
And if it's a non EACT you still have a bunch of things that can
go wrong. Could be as easy as a A/C clutch out of spec or
a pressure cutoff switch shutting it down for X reasons.
Once you post a year we may be able to get you looking in
the right location for the problem.
I tacked on a bunch of PDFs for the 2006 year system.
There may be some double coverage in the documents.
But it will give you an idea on somethings to be looking at.
