Temperature Gauge
78 f250 351m I replaced the coolant temperature sensor and when I turned the key on the gauge pegs to H and stays there. Could this be a faulty dash cluster voltage regulator? My cluster has idiot lights with a temp and gas gauge. Gas gauge only moves up a little right before "E". My coolant gauge didnt work before I changed the sensor. I know this gauge isnt accurate but wanted it working anyways. Winter is around the corner and I want to put a higher temp thermostat in. But I want to see how the temperature is before I put the new thermostat in.

Pull the wire off the temp sender and turn the ignition to "run" position. What does the gauge do? If the needle doesn't move then the sender is bad. If it still swings all the way over to "H" then check for a short in the wiring between the gauge and the sender.
