dual tank problem

dual tank problem
I have a 1990 f250 7.5 xlt lariat gasser with dual fuel tank. The front fuel tank works just fine but when I hit the switch my fuel gauge will go way past full and start throwing MIL lights at me and kill the engine. Any ideas?

I don't know about the lights issue but past full means an open wire which indicates a bad ground or sending unit. Try fixing the ground. If that doesn't work, your sending unit is shot. Just went through the same fuel gauge issue with mine

Sending unit. When I pulled it out there was electrical tape around it so apparently I'm not the first to try to fix it. I had mine for a year without a working gas gauge on the rear and the front fuel tank didn't work so I was glad to have it. Here's the one I ordered. It fixed my issue and fit great so I'm happy
