I have a 78 ranchero 400cui 6.6 v8 that im fixing up and really excited about.....the engine wiring harness was pretty bad....I went to the local junk yard and pulled a used one from another 78.....I bought a new battery alternator, starter, starter solenoid, and voltage regulator....now when I get electricity through out the entire car but when I turn it over I get sparks from the negative cable of the battery at the ground end attached to the engine block.....any ways of fixing this so I can get my car started.....this electrical system is killing me
Which is the Ranchero forums and likely get better information.
Personally, it sounds like your connection at the block is bad, thus the sparks. Does the engine turn over at all? Have you cleaned the two surfaces so that there is no paint, rust or dirt?
great sparks are gone.....for a minute my starter solenoid was just clicking.......figured the repetitive use of checking the car tired it out....charged the battery....got it to crank but no fire just repetitive cranking.....any thoughts?
