This past weekend the JY near us was running 1/2 off so we decided to go see what we could get. We were mostly in search of a new bench seat, as the one in our 83 is pretty shot and while we didn't find that we still made out like bandits. Our haul included:
- full dash with instrument cluster (this dash only had one small crack in the dash pad and was in overall fantastic condition, plus the instrument panel looked much better than the one we have on our 83)
- dash clock (our 83 didn't come with this option so I'm not sure if we will be able to wire it in/have a place for it but it was cool)
- Speakers
- new hood release pull (the handle had broken off ours and we were using vice grips to pull it)
- new AC Control unit (ours was faded and some of the selectors didn't work correctly)
- left and right kick panel pieces (much better shape than the ones we had)
- left and right wheel arch trim (our chrome here is pretty beat and these were in great shape)
- new cargo lamp (seal was pretty shot on ours, this seal looks much better)
- visors
- 1 arm rest for our door panels
Overall we felt like we did pretty good! got all this for ~$70 and it was all in really great shape and mostly off a really really clean looking '86.
Anyone else have some good JY finds from the long weekend (or any weekend)?
I don't have any finds recently, but you did well. Congrat's!! But, a couple of thoughts:
On the cargo light seal I've been using silicone caulk as the gaskets don't seem to work well after a few years, and any leak there runs into the cab corners and causes rust.
There were two clocks used with two slightly different wiring harnesses - which you should have gotten off the truck from which you got the clock.
Similarly, there were two different A/C control units and they took a different vacuum connection. So, if the one you "picked" doesn't connect with your truck then go back to the salvage and get the short vacuum line that goes from the control.
I know we grabbed the wire harness for the clock, unsure about the AC controls. I know we specifically looked for one that had the switch for the dual tanks but don't think we paid much attention to the vacuum set up. Will have to look when I get home.

Thanks for the info!
The harness for the clock is about a foot long and connects down by the ash tray.
