So I recently purchased an edelbrock performer for my 390 off of eBay for like 170 thought it was a good deal so I bought it going to put it on I noticed the hole for the water pump bypass seems to be taped to a bigger thread either that or there just really worn out. I think I can make it work by putting a 10an to 3/4 npt add apter and hb welding it in place from there adding a 3/4 to 1/2 in reducer to make it fit the water pump. That being said after I bought the manifold I started hearing that most people have abandoned use of this intake due to poor performance, am I going to be spending to much time trying to fix something that's not really worth the time. I hear the rpm manifold is so posed to be the end all be all of FE intakes would I be better off buying one of thoes instead ?

$170 is a good deal for a 2105. I was at the Goodguys West Coast Nats and they were selling for $200 to $25. The 2105 is better than stock and 55 pounds lighter but doesn't flow like a 7105 because the former is dual plane whereas the 7105 is a single plane and intended for high(er) RPM use. For these heavy trucks, building for torque and with an FE moreso.
Bring it to a shop and have it welded up. If not, let me know and we'll figure something cuz IIRC you're relatively local.

I was preaty sure the rpm was a dual plan also. Or so it says on the sumit page. Would going with the rpm be an upgrade over the preformer or just awaits of money
My bad .. you're right. It is a dual plane and tuned for 1500-6500 RPM. The Performer is tuned for idle to 5500 RPM. The price difference is about $60 new.
Still, an FE would likely never exceed 5500 RPM. Mine screams for mercy even at 4,500 RPM so I'd never use that extra capacity.
