Fuel guage help
Recently i changed my sending unit . Single side 16 gal unit . Its on a. 86. First tank or 2 guage seemed to work properly . But recently its dropping to E with 4-5 gal left in it. My other guages work well. Not 100% its exacly right but they do move and have been consistant. I dont think that regulator or what ever the name for that piece in the cluster is bad. Any other ideas short of a aftermarket guage?

That's fairly normal. These setups are not super accurate, and most every vehicle I own leaves 2 to 3 gallons in the tank when the sending unit arm drops down to the stop. That's your reserve. I would not lose sleep over it.

Ok. I hadnt had a true working fuel guage til the swap. Before id fill it and it would drop to E inside of 40-50 miles. With the swap it moves what seems a normal amount for a 16gal 10mpg truck.
