Anyone ever have any problems with their anti theft? My ex got hauled to the dealer ship because the shop I had it at said only Ford could fix it.apparently there's service bulletins about this and fords only way to fix it is to throw parts at it and guess.lol ....give me a break!
Not sure what kind of trouble your having with the anti-theft, but 2002 Sport Trac failed to start a week ago. The anti-theft light was flashing at me. It was the anti-theft transceiver that is located around the ignition lock cylinder. It is a DIY repair. Removed trim around steering column and the other necessary trim. I got the transceiver from AUTONATION for $41 shipped. No programming of keys or anything. Dealership repair was around $350 is what I was told.
Sorry for the late reply, it was my key.the chip in there went bad apparently. So a new key had to be cut and programed to the pcm.the dealership cost for me was 226.00,on top of the other shops cost of 245.00 for doing basically nothing.lol.expensive key.
I would have told them to kick rocks. They didn't fix it they can kiss my axe. Should have asked on here first, we could have told you to just go to a locksmith for about $150 total
"Most" locksmiths can still only clone an existing key, if your only key is toast, cloning it will do no good. And if you only have one key, they have to wipe and program it, which does have a delay. If you have two keys, you can program a third yourself. That way you always have two keys live and can add a key at will.
