110 Volt System Rating

Looking at my 2012 F150 owners manual, page 342, it shows fuse #33
for the 110V AC Power Point as being a 40 amp fuse.

Thats a lot more capacity then I thought it would handle.

So, if I plug in a guitar speaker that has a 100W max rating, it would
only be drawing about 1 amp max. Did I get my electrics right?

I thought his 110 V outlet would have been designed to just
charge a cel phone, not run anything for real. Guess I was wrong.

Any comments based on experience with this feature?

40 amps on the 12v side will translate to approx. 4 amps on the 110v side.

IOW, it is about a 400w inverter.

as far as your guitar speaker, you would have to look at the back of the amp and see what the power input requirement. If i were to guess, i would gusitmate that a 100w amp will have an input requrement of about 250watts.... so you should be able to run it witout any trouble.

rough numbers ... but close enough to get you by without actually crunching all the numbers.
