After light use of about 2 years my MTX Thunder 200x1 mono amp died. The in-line fuse is fine but as soon as you power it up you can smell that ozone odor and it instantly blows the two blade fuses in the side.
Since its a relatively inexpensive amp, I'm figuring its not worth it to have it repaired and will just replace it.
Its powering a Kicker L5 10" solobaric. I'd like to stay under $150 for a replacement. RCA inputs, so no need for speaker level inputs.
Yes, yes I would. That's why I'm asking for recommendations.
Listening to an amp in a test room has little to no bearing on how its going to sound in your own application. Unless the test room puts the same amount of voltage and signal to noise ratio into the amp as my head unit does and its hooked up to a Solobaric 10" L5 4-ohm subwoofer in a sealed truck box in a test chamber the volume of my truck interior, I'm not going to hear what it sounds like in my application.
ya but u have 4 terminals inside on the speaker right?( 2 red and 2 black) that means u have DUAL 4..which then comes down to 2 ohm...i doubt u only have 1 set of termnals in there..
