Keep in mind that the 4X4 supercab combo was only produced in the last two years of this body style. So they are all relatively rare. They only made about 1700 of Chris' 79 F350 4X4's.
.......... and most of us have trucks that are "works in progress".
Is your truck stock height with 35's.? I managed to acquire a '79 F250 4x4 SC so I'm always open to learn what works for you guys out there.

I added a leaf on the front end that brought it up close to 2 inches. That makes room for the 35's and levels it out a bit. Not hard to do, and you don't need to fuss with longer brake lines, pitman arms etc.
I know everyone wants a crew cab but I personally really like the super cab long boxes. The long tough 4x4 is nothing short of a sexy truck. Where did they all go? I search around on this sight for inspiration on where to go with mine but find few. Any pics?
@ arrow9724, I figured we should move from the "dent spotting" thread to here with more S-cab tech.
4x4 S-cab VIN# truck series codes:
X14= '78-'79 4x4 F100 S-cab...never seen one personally.
X16= '78-'79 4x4 F150 S-cab
X26= '78-'79 4x4 F250 S-cab
X28= '78-'79 4x4 F250 S-cab and chassis (bed delete)
X36= '79 4x4 F350 S-cab
X38= '79 4x4 F350 S-cab and chassis
X14 right on the warranty tag...no I did not locate the vin on the frame rails.
Bought it as a non running parts truck w/title and fresh rebuilt paper work on the auto trans. It came like it sets with all the extra parts in the cab.
It has a D60 front and rear and swapped in front sump 460.
Rusty SC section, floor pans...bed sides look like they have been 5 gal bondo by PO. Along with the stacked springs on the front for the plow evidently?
I have only taken a very few small parts off it. Its still complete for the most part. Poor ol neglected thing....
Well it does not have any badges (F100, F150, F250) or place to put them, been filed in I suspect. Definitively a swap in motor, along with the cobbled up stacked front leafs.
The back wall of the cab is rusted out bad. I got if from the Gardner KS area quite a while ago.
Thanks for the info on the vins. I have a number matching ½ ton from 78. Then the 1 ton I'm looking at buying is a 1 ton frame and chassis with a 44 front axle and a ¾ ton body. I was hoping it was an all number matching truck but I'm going to go look at it anyways. If it's fine right it might find a place in my garage. It would be a good cummins swap truck.

Your welcome! That's a shame the F350 isn't correct, but at least you were informed and didn't buy something that was misrepresented.
If the title and frame match, it could be returned to true F350 status with a Marti report which would include a new door warranty plate. Then just locate a high pinion D60 front!
