I'm looking into getting a 99 cc f350 drw. The owner says it will start up and drive fine but after its warmed up it will not start up. As long as he doesn't shut it off its Ok. He said its acting like its not getting fuel. He said he changed the fuel pump and filter and screen in the tank.
Has anybody been through this?
It's likely the injectors are done. It's about $1,200 (with shipping and tax, if applicable) for remans, which I don't recommend. It's almost $2,000 for new, which I do recommend. There is an injector troubleshooting link in my signature.
Nice that he already did the fuel stuff. IPR solenoid can do that too, it fails when hot. Check that the tin nut on the back of it is snug first. Never tried testing one myself, but I think if you can monitor duty cycle or HPOP pressure with a scanner you'd see it fail. Otherwise if we're just chucking parts at it an IPR is about $200. Gotta buy the whole IPR, not just the solenoid. Ford part number is F81Z9C968AB and IH 1841217C91. Not horrible to change but you need a big deep socket. Or if you don't plan on doing this often a shower valve wrench set from the hardware store will work.
Get it hot to the point it won't start, then pour a cup of ice water over the IPR. If it starts right up, you've found your problem. If not, it's probably time to hook up a scan tool and see what exactly is going on.

Tried to rep on this one - good call! I have to spread 'em.
