Soft Start Issue...

You know how anytime you start your truck it will SPRING to life? When mine has been run for a while, when I crank it, it starts soft. Like, one little, two little, three little cylinders...four little, five...etc...you get it. It doesn't spring to life like it should. The other day for the first time (when it was warmed up) it took three tries to get it to finally catch. Other than replacing the fuel filter which I will replace tomorrow...where do I start looking? It is a 1997 F450 7.3 TD. 104,000 miles, but the spedometer only worked 1/2 the time. I have fixed that already. Thanks for all your help!!! Kevin

I know exactly what you mean, my truck does the exact same thing, only it will always start on the first try warm or cold. but only starts soft when warm I too would like to know what the issue is

Be sure the oil condition is good first. Check and make sure the tin nut is still on the IPR and snug, and maybe put new o-rings on the IPR. That would be where I'd start.
