D8TA-AEC = Dana 44-9F (sorry, not a D60) 3.54 non-locking w/ free running hubs, 3800 lb capacity.
The 610040-2 is the Dana build number

Mine is odd too.

I looked across a few websites to reference. On the Axle portion I have B4J.
I am to understand that the B4 is a Dana 60 w/ 4.11. J just came back as (Ford).

B4J: B4 = Dana 60 Rear Axle / 4.10-1 / Limited Slip / 5,300 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity / J = Power Steering.

The 3rd digit of the axle code (if present) after 1966, rarely refers to the type of front driving axle, since there's an AXLE ID tag located under one of the bolts that retains the inspection cover to the housing.

The problem is, many of these tags are now missing.

I'll look for the tag. Good info BTW, thanks.

You are sure that the camshaft is compatible with the speed density fuel injection? There are some 97s out there with mass air. I've 2 97s, both came from western states one AR one CO. The Ar one has mass air, ala a CA truck. The way speed density works you can't change a thing between the intake valve and the ex, a good Banks exhaust will greatly help, under load. Empty not so much. That's about all you can do. Dump the air pump system, keep the egr but block it off. Lose the cat, it's very possibly plugged. You change the valve lift/timing and you've got a nightmare. Mass air can adjust to internal changes 'cuz it senses oxygen and gives the perfect mixture. Mass air assumes so much air at any given condition, that's how the program is written. Something to think about anyway. As suggested earlier your fuel pressures are too high. I guess I'd find a breakout box and start checking everything. A bit putzy with that old technology, but basically simple. I bought my 60 pin Rotunda one off ebay a while ago for $25
