Anyone install the Mustang 5.0 shorty headers? I also can get a set of early 5.0 headers off a Mustang that had an Automatic Transmission. Can anyone give me a reason these will not work on my 86 f150? And/or what needs to be done to make them work. I am thinking the shorty's would be the best because I can use the stock exhaust. However I would like to do a dually exhaust so that part don't matter. Did I mention the stock left exhaust manifold is cracked.
I have installed fox body mustang gt headers on my 86 f150 . they fit the engine and clear the frame fine . You will need custom exhaust ,they will not fit the stock y pipe . I built my own dual exhaust with a jones max flow ss dual in/out muffler for about $210 . i still need to finish the tail pipes and add tips , But that should give you an ideal of the cost .
OK here is the set from CL "5.0 302ci that will work for gt40p heads from an automatic lx ". I am just guessing here but me thinks if the headers will fit in the limited space of the Mustang they SHOULD work on my truck. We are talking $40 so it is a cheap experiment. Right?
