On a 1982 Carter 1 barrel [YFA] carburetor, the choke housing nut which secures the 1/4" metal tube coming from the exhaust manifold, has threads which screw into the carburetor carburetor body.
The 1970 Carter 1 barrel [YF] carburetor, which I am using, has the 1/4" metal tube secured with a nut which secures to the same housing, but the threads of the carburetor housing are on the outside [rather than inside, as above].
Does anyone have an extra nut which would work for the 1970 as described?
I don't know if this is specific to the Carter or perhaps can be found on other carburetors.
I replied to the other thread, but 1/4" compression is 7/16-24
You can find a compression nut and ferrule in any plumbing department or the HELP! section of most parts stores.
I know his is an old thread but I went to the hardware store and bought a few feet of 1/4 inch copper tube. A standard pipe compression fitting should fit the choke. I made one loop around the exhaust manifold and was able to connect it to the supply by the Ventura. It has a low vacuum on it so you should at least plug it.
I've made those tubes from bendable copper plumbing, steel brake line, whatever. It helps to insulate it with either the original fiberglass sock or insulation wrap.
