Intake Question

I was discussing my intake swap with a buddy who has the same (460) motor as I do. Now, he stated that I not use the rubber end gaskets for the front and rear of the block that come included in the kit. He said to use RGV (Black) and put a thick bead. What is the consensus on this approach? When I pulled the old intake off, it had the rubber gaskets and there weren't any leaks.
Does anyone have an answer to this as I would like to reinstall this week?

I never use the rubber end seals that come with the gaskets, just a bead of RTV Black is your choice there all the same Gray, Blue, Red. Been doing it that way for years, havn't got bit yet.

There is a very good chance the new one's will slip out. Just make sure both underside of the intake and the block mounting surface are VERY clean and oil free.

Sand the gasket mating surface of both to give the RTV something to bite, better than slick metal. Also use the proper torque sequence and do not over torque.

All I heard about was the habit of them slipping, and when I replaced a intake with alum and did not listen, they popped out a week later. I trash canned them and used the Permatex high temp copper and never had another issue.
