I just bought a 2014 se for my wife...she really wanted heated side mirrors since we live in the Midwest and get a fair amount of snow and ice..the problem is that only leather packages came with that option and she really likes cloth seats better. Before anyone says I should have just bought the package with leather seats anyway, I'm looking for real solutions please. Has anyone put either aftermarket heated mirrors in our does anyone know if the wiring is present and I just need to add a switch and buy new mirror assemblies. Any help is much appreciated
I don't know if the wiring is there.
New mirror assemblies and add your own switch. But,you would want it to be timed, guess you could hook it to the rear window defroster.
I am trying to the same as you onlu I have an 05, heated mirrors are activated when you turn on rear window defogger. As I see it 2 options, find out if your wiring harness will take the heated mirrors, if so its just plug and play. If not ( like me ), you will have run a wire from mirror to aftermarket switch. If you can figure out how the original Ford mirror switch contacts are wired and find the one that is hot and turns the mirrors on and off, you could do that. Remember that if you do it with an original switch or an aftermarket switch you will have to remember to turn them off manually. If using an aftermarket switch, get a toggle switch that has a light in the end so u can tell when its on and off, also I don't know if you do it this way if the little heated wiggly lines on the mirror face will come on or not. Just one other thought, if using aftermarket toggle switch, you can jusr reach back of the orginal switch blank and pop it out and drill your hole for switch and push it back in, (that's the way I'm doing it). Just don't forget to tell your wife what the toggle switch is for and how to use it, good luck.
