Before I replaced the T-stat with a new OEM Ford
I was seeing a 8º~10º ∆ after I put the new one in
and the ECT was up to 192º vs the 182º. My delta dropped
down to about 4º~6º∆. The reason is I am un-sure of.
Also if you watch your temps as they start off from cold
and come to operating temps the ∆ can be all over the place.
Once it stabilizes then the ∆ also do.
But if I were getting ready to do an oil cooler do to ∆ readings
then a quick swap in of a known good OEM T-stat would be a
good first thing to try. $30 Vs $300~$500 or more if you have
someone do it and also on how much flushing you do.
