Looking at switching out the stock axles in my f-150 for larger axles out of an f350. The 350 is a quad cab short box and my truck is a single cab short box I was mainly wondering what would be involved in swapping the two sets of axles any input appreciated
Rear axle should not be too hard. Be prepared to weld on the axle tube so everything mounts correctly. Also you will probably need bigger U-bolts. Custom universal joints and maybe a custom drive shaft. And you will need to check that the brake line matches up. A lot of work, so I'm not sure the benefits outweigh the costs on this mod. Keep in mind the strength of the frame too.
For the front, that's trickier, as an F150 and 2wd 3/4 ton and up trucks used coils, and the 350 has leafs.
EDIT: This information is assuming you take the ENTIRE rear axle assembly out of the F350, wheel to wheel, as an assembly. Any other attempt would most likely not work.
