electronic voltage regulator

Got an F-150 , 1982 300 inline six . Anyone know the value of the capacitor that is screwed to the sidewall with the regulator ? And is there supposed to be another one somewhere else , like at the coil ? I'm probably going to replace the voltage regulator . Is there one type that's better than another ? Thanks

It is just a radio suppression capacitor.
You will find one -either or- but not at both the coil and the regulator.

0.50 microfarad is common for this application.

Oddly enough, only the 8 cylinder engines got one at the dizzy.
