Question Voltage regulator not working ?

I put a new MSD coil and pertronix ignition on my 390 ford. The voltage was not at 12 volts as needed by both unit, because of the resistance wire give only 6.6 volts. I by passed it and both work great. I checked the battery with a OHM meter with the ar not running, and got 12.22 volts. Same voltage at the coil. With car running voltage is 14.05, so is the coil on the + side. Shouldnt the voltage regulator step that down to 12 volts? The car was rewired to a Alternator system a few years ago. I have had no real problems with it. I still thing the voltage is on the high side at 14.05 at the coil. Any ideas?
Thank You

I am not real keen on the electrical stuff but I do know that my truck runs at 14 volts when running ...I am not sure why either, but mine is all stock if that helps you any.

That's good voltage. Turn on the headlamps, heater or AC, punch the cigarette lighter and THEN check the voltage. That's the reason for an oversupply.

Just normal operating conditions, I wouldn't worry about it.

In order to charge the battery the voltage must be higher then the batteries.
