Hydro boost brakes

Hi Everyone I have a 1967 bronco an I put hydro boost an disc brakes on it an a ford power steering pump . So when I turn off my motor almost all the fluid comes up an out of the power steering pump . Does any one know why that is .

sounds like the accumulator is pushing fluid back out.
Is it a new hydroboost?
Does it work properly when the engine is running?

Yea it works good . I even changed the hydro unit an it does the same thing . Not sure how to fix it . I am thinking it might be the ps .

1. I wonder if the pump should have a check valve that might be missing?

2. Or perhaps the pedal doesn't return 100% to close the inlet valve from the PS pump. In my setup, I have a threaded pushrod. Are you sure the pushrod is adjusted properly?

If I listen closely, I can hear fluid flowing once the pushrod comes off of the closed position.

I'd try a newer pump first.
The hydroboost offers great stopping power and firm pedal. I up-sized my master cylinder by one size and love the feel (very short throw).

I'm pretty sure it needs to be bled out. If there's air traped in the system it will pour out like you have mentioned. I tried every way to bleed mine and finally had to vacuum bleed for it to get all the air out.

Mine practically self bled. Actually it did and nearly instantly. My unit is below the floor boards though. I wonder if you can crack the lines and bleed that way with the engine running?

Seems some conversions go easier than others. Mine was a nightmare. What ended up working for me was pulling a vacuum on the PS pump reservoir, disconnect the pitman arm and turned the steering wheel about a million times. (engine off)

Did that a few times till it finally worked.

I don't think every one should have the same problems, easiest way is to disconnect the pitman arm, with the engine running, turn the wheel back and forth, lock to lock till your arms fall off. MAKE SURE the pump does not go dry.

Once fluid level has stabilized and no more bubbles can be seen, you're good to go. You might have to let it sit overnight and redo the next day.

There's a lot of hose and several components to bleed out.
