Can a failing power steering pump cause a low/mushy brake pedal?
I have the above brake issue, i replaced my pump in december with one from advance autoparts i have a hard time turning the whhels at stop but it was that same way before i replaced it
Im about to tackle my brake issue but was thinking maybe its ghe pump
And i do have a leak in the pressure line running off the pump to the hydro
and I just ran my truck pretty hard at WOT and came to a street light and the brakes worked excellent and were at the top of the pedal? because of this I believe my master is fine
I have a guy who is parting out a 06 cclb king ranch with 65k on everything, if its the hydro system im just going to buy the booster, master and steering pump and put it on my truck
powerstroker i just went though a high pressure line problem the one from the pump to hydro boost . It was leaking and then went out completely , when the fluid got real low brakes would get bad, mushy peddle . I know the fluid goes from pump to hydro boost to steering gear , do you have any leaks and is everything hooked up right and is the fluid at right level.

fluid is full, I have a seeping leak where the high pressure hose threads into the pump itself, I think theres an o ring or something on the line that I forgot to install when I replaced the pump a few months back, think that alone could cause the brake issue?

are these hydroboost units like the vacuum boosters, when they fail does the pedal become rock hard like on the old vacuum style or would it turn to mush?
another thing I'm going to add is that, I have brake fluid that is being pushed out the reservoir, not sure how but I wipe it off once every couple days it seems, think I'm going to start by replacing the power steering pump again, but this time with a ford oem one and also a new master cylinder
You might look into the hydro boost I have replaced mine twice and the master twice once from old age and second time under warranty from Napa. almost 270,000 miles now and have not had to replace the Power Steering Pump Also might need to check the power steering hoses we replaced those also I guess sometimes the inside of the hose starts to come apart and cause intermittent issues
