Im thinking about the Speedway coated headers but am a little leery of the $297 price tag. That seems very inexpensive for a set of full length coated headers.
Ive done some surfing and do not see any complaints on the quality or fitment.
So Im thinking about headers and header mufflers.
Glasspaks or turbos?
Side pipes would be a cool retro look but I was voted down on that option.
The Speedway headers are just Patriot Headers. You can pick those up at Summit.
You could probably get the uncoated ones, make sure they fit, then send them out for a known quality coating and be in the same total price range of other coated headers.
Mufflers, use whatever you like.
Scratch that idea. the patriot headers are much more expensive. I wonder what the deal is with that. The Speedway headers do come from Patriot. They told me when I inquired about them one time because I noticed similarities in the part numbers.
The Patriot headers do not fit a 64. They hit the transmission cross member on a 292 4 speed truck. Trust me, I bought a set and they sent me a second set thinking something may have shifted on the jig on the first set. Second set did the same, hit the trans cross member and and you could only get the first front bolt in on both sides. I got a set of headers from Redds headers and they work perfect. He does not sell ceramic coated but I took them to a powder coater and had them coated with Ceracote and so far they are holding up fine. Supposedly good to 1800 degrees. Went 2.5 inch pipe all the way back and used Magnaflo mufflers
