Tailgate comes off too easily

Thats an old farmer trick. They did that soley for the purpose of making it easy to remove the tailgate. I'm sure if you look at your box floor youll see scrape marks from something being slid in. I think GM had a tailgate that comes out from the passenger side the same way yours comes out. Just flip the hinge bars and off with the gate. Itwas a good gerry rig at the time.

The second part of that trick is to make a headache rack so that you can lock the tailgate in behind the rear window. Check with the original owner to see if he did it.

I think you redesigned half my back yard there 77/79, just what I needed, another project.LOL My buddy Earl the Burl,and various reiterations of those words, is getting a wood list for the next burl hunt he goes on. Ever see a human turtle, thats Earl with a burl on his back. Haa ha
