Hello all,
I have a 96 E350 Diesel van and it keeps having shifting issues.
Here's what it will do....
It will not move unless you rev it to the max then it will start to move slowly and eventually start working fine. Once it starts working it will drive normally and shift fine..... It does this random, but seems to do it first start up OR if the trans sits idle for a while during the bucket use. This is a bucket truck van. Now the OD light flashes. We had this happen before and it seems it was the VSS. It was just replaced about 6 months prior. I show no speedo issues that I see. I also checked the brake light fuse. How can I read the code, is it OBD 2 readable or is there a special scanner that gets hooked to the trans? Any idea's?
I have a similar Van..... BUT I do not have a bucket....When I get the PO500 code it is ussually from bad electrical contacts....I clean all the wiring connectors from the Differential to the front ( there is like 5 of them ) and it stops doing it for a while.....When the OD button blinks it is setting a code....You need to know what the code is ...I ALSO have a Diagnostic scanner that monitors Live Data so I know what codes I have. You need to determine that first.....As Mark stated above....
Yes, I have a very expensive scanner I will try that. I just figured it might not show correctly with it being intermiten. The connector sounds like a great place to check and clean as when you operate the bucket the truck moves a lot.......Well see. Thanks!
