Traded my 2013 for a 2014 5.0 today!
Yep, I did it...pulled the trigger. I love the sound of the 5.0. I liked the EB but was disappointed in how a V-6 sounds...I should have know better. Got the exact same truck. FX4 w/everything. I had them swap over my aftermarket wheels and tires. Nobody will probably know that I even traded-lol. This trucks sounds great with the V-8!!
I have a SCT-X4, does anyone run tunes on their 5.0? I'd like to hear who has some good custom tunes. How did it change MPG & performance?
Thx,
Sgtwalleye

I can't speak for tunes since I haven't put one on my truck yet.
But I do understand what you mean about that V8 sound. Haven't owned an Ecoboost but I test drove a few before I ultimately got my 5.0L F-150. One of the big selling points of the 5.0L was simply it's sound. Never was a fan of the V6 hum, always preferred the V8 growl.
Honestly the only thing that kept me out of a 6.2L F-150 was that at the time I ordered my truck (Late 2011) Ford did not offer the 6.2L in the configuration I wanted, (FX4 Supercab).

Welcome to FTE! Talk to Mike at Custom Dynomemeter Chassis Tuning Products and Services - 5 Star Tuning. He is a site sponsor and I really like what his tunes have done for my truck. Not too much, but just enough

I never did get to play with an Ecoboost, but I'm with you completely on the V6 sound. My last truck was a 2001 F150 with the 4.2 V6. Now it was actually a pretty good engine, and I worked it pretty hard, harder than it was intended for.
But the first time I drove my 2011 F150 with the Coyote, 5.0, and opened it up a little bit, I actually giggled in my seat. I drove the 2001 for almost 13 years.

I did the exact same thing for the exact same reasons. Went from a Sterling Grey SCrew FX4 Ecoboost, to a Sterling Grey SCrew FX4 5.0
My experience is that I love the 5.0. MPG was just as good as the Ecoboost and performance was just as good...with the exception of towing. The torque of the Ecoboost gives it the edge when towing. But, I only tow a couple times a year, so all in all it was still a big win!
After 2 months I put in a tune from JDM Engineering. Power and torque went up. I have no dyno figures except for butt dyno and it says the improvement is clearly noticeable. I DO have figures and numbers on the MPG though....MPG increased by 1.5 after installing the tune. A Roush CAI and Roush exhaust rounded out my mods.....Love This Truck!
