stuck throttle
Yesterday I pulled out pretty agressively onto the highway and when I took my foot off the accelerator it kept going. The pedal was stuck to the floor. I kicked it a few times and it popped back but for a minute there I thought something bad was going to happen. Truck is a 99 F150 5.4 V8. Anyone had this happen to them before? Where should I look first to diagnose the problem? Dont ever want this to happen again. Thanks!

It's a cable control. Very simple. Get in there and see what's going on.
Should be a return spring. Is the spring in place?
Is the cable becoming seized etc.
Is he Cruise Control cable free or interfering?

In addition to checking the floor mat and the throttle cable, also check the throttle body itself. They can either get sludged up and get sticky or there can be mechanical wear that causes the plate to "stick" is certain positions.
