accelerator cable

I saw there's an accelerator cable for my 88 F150 at Autozone ($30). However, a search on this forum revealed one post where the poster claimed the cable didn't fit. I have cruise and the cruise cable needs to click onto the accelerator cable. Has anyone else bought this cable from Autozone? How much would it be from the dealer (fordpartsonline.com doesn't have it).
Thanks!

Call up your local dealers parts dept. and ask. The will be glad to give you a price. Autozone is good for oil filters etc.. You are always better of paying a little more for better quality stuff.

accelerator cable

I recently bought a cable for my 88 from Advance Auto Parts. It was $35.00. I have cruise control and AOD. The cable fit fine. On mine, the end of the cable (under the dash) came off and the pedal went right to the floor and the engine just idled away, I was about 100 miles away from home pulling out of a rest stop near Rocky Mount, NC. I pulled enough of the cable out to put a pair ov vise grips on it so it would stay on the pedal linkage and went on to Raleigh and then drove it back to Virginia that way.
