voltage regulators
When I went to 12 volt, what I used to regulate the voltage are three small electronic items. Here is what I remember about the details. I think I got the info from this forum. I'm attaching a picture that shows them mounted to a piece of aluminum and tied to something under my dash. Someone suggested using one for each of the three gauges so if there is a problem it will be easier to figure out.
Each of these regulators look like a transistor but there is much more in each one making them good voltage regulators.
As I had been running an 8 volt battery and the generator was running at bout 9 volts and the gauges were working good, I decided to use 8 volt regulators instead of 6 volt ones. The ones I used are 1 1/8 long by 3/8 wide and have markings on top of (F K9921) and on the next line (MC7808C) These are very inexpensive. They have been working for at least a year. On the amp gauge, you will need to unfasten the wire that runs by it and run it in the oposite direction. Luckily that big wire ends nearby, I think at the circuit breakers
rcuit breakers.
