WalMart's Everstart Maxx batteries (at least some models) are made by Johnson Controls most likely. So are CostCo batteries. I believe that the Ford batteries are too.
Good find. I see that MSDS is dated 2011. My point of reference is about 2005-2009.
And it could easily be a West Coast versus East Coast with each division receiving different manufactured batteries based on shipping/availability.
I do see on Exide's Wikipedia page they closed their California battery plant in 2013.

A lot of heavy industry is closing down in Ca. due to it's bussiness friendly attitude. Nail them to the cross by the EPA and then when they leave jack the taxes up on the remaining bussinesses to make up the loss and I won't even go into their workers comp. costs.
