Sounds like a great idea. You could also go vegan, cook crystal meth, or a whole range of similarly worthwhile activities. IMO the 6.2/6.5 engines are nothing but boat anchors.
What is your idea engine wish that I can't drive down the block and see it swapped into a f350 an e350 and a old chevy RV?
Ok if they are set up properly they are reliable
Everyone knows someone who has a few old ones with issues that are original. I'm talking head and main studs copper head gaskets cooling System mods including a dmax fan
Lower compression to better handle the boost
Not just some old neglected one that everyone hate because they don't understand it's kinda like a 6.0 for gm
It maybe true the 6.5 can be reliable and make good power if setup correctly. My in laws are die hard GM and know how to fix them, maintenance is almost a paranoia to them. One was rebuilt at 150,000miles and one is dead at 170,000miles and being replaced. Both are bone stock engine's and none of those mods would have helped.
Crank related failure? If so add the fluid damper balancer and forget about it
Main studs and a girdle help too
There 6.2's had crankshaft problems but the 6.5's were both piston related. I'm not going to say you shouldn't do the swap but it seems like a huge amount of work for step a backward to me.
I agree. The 6.2/6.5 can likely be made to be reliable if taken care of and not worked hard, but I would rather have a better engine than a unique engine swap.
I'm picking up what you guys are saying
At the same time remember this is by no means a stock engine BUT what other ideas for an engine
How about a cat engine then???
I think a DT360 would be sweet. It should fit into anything a 6BT does. Then you're at least closer to being in the family, and that 360 has one stout bottom end.

Hey, Ford owns Cummings; it's in the family.
All kidding aside, the Cummins engine was available in the F650 and up. When my swap goes over, my engine will be painted Ford Corporate Blue.
