Oil leak

Looks like I have a sizable oil leak just outside of the spin on filter. Could it be the 63 223 had a bolt on canister filter and this leak is the adaptor plate for the spin on type?

Not familiar with 223 filter assembly so taking a shot in the dark, occasionally find sale person pulled the wrong part, should be able to determine by checking the seal at the adapter, may have to pull the filter and measure. Also, filter can be installed too tight, or not tight enough. Had an experience where the rubber seal from the old filter remained on the block when I replaced the filter and ended up w/ double seals, a leak developed and gradually got worse.
