Nope. When "importing" an out of state vehicle, the CA DMV requires that ya bring in the truck to have its VIN verified by a DMV official.
Ya shot yourself in the azz (or stepped on yer ******) by not transferring the 67's warranty plate to the 69 door. CA DMV will typically not check the frame VIN because most their employees are not knowledgeable enough to know where to look. They're usually overwhelmed anyway and won't take the time to find it unless there is something fishy about the paperwork or if the VIN appears as if it has been tampered with. Marti Autoworks sells the correct rivets if you're interested but it might be too late for that. Ya wouldn't have them 67 doors still laying around would ya? Uh-oh.
Never surrender more information that you need to. Meaning, do not divulge that it is a 76 4x4 frame... if you do that it's a whole can of worms because 76 and newer vehicles are not exempt from emissions inspections and testing. Then they might even ave ya go through various inspections ($$$) because it might be considered a "composite" vehicle (a Frankenstein). They even hold discretion because the various parts came from different sources to issue you a Salvage title... and a salvage title is a big black mark in official CA records that cannot be removed once bestowed.
x2, I would not bring that to CA. Once they discover the various VINs, they may impound the vehicle. Then they will check the other VINs for stolen or liens.
Do you know the story on or do you have the titles for the other components? Even if you have a clear title on the '76 frame, that puts you into emissions inspections. What year is the engine?
the motors a 67 ford 352. I didnt no if after a certain year they wouldnt vin check. in my opinoin its stupid to check the vin on a pickup thats 47 years old. espaically an old farm truck. no i dont got the doors i bought i with the 69 doors on it.
ya i no the pickup aint stolen or nothing to. there was a title for the door but the guy lost the title for the door. plus its got a 4inch body lift how would that go over in california?
ya im going out to this old for junk yard this week by my place hes got a lot of fords from the 1960s to the late 70s so ill just try find a door with a title out there
Unless you're in the military, I wonder why anyone would want to move to CA. The cost of living and housing tends to be sky high. Income is decent depending on profession. To set up business? A recent survey revealed this is the costliest in the nation.
That depends on where in Ca. Up in the Sierra they salt the roads in the winter (or used to, anyway) and you can easily get a rust bucket. I used to have a Jeep Wagoneer when I lived in Tahoe City and you could see the rear tires from inside the truck through the holes in the wheel arches. And the coastal regions can be bad too from the salt air and constant humidity. It's really only the valley and desert areas that are that dry. Even up here we have plenty of rust buckets.

They check 'em because people put cars and trucks together out of stolen parts. You can say all day your stuff isn't stolen, and I'll believe you, but they will say "prove it".
If it is registered and running where you are, I'd leave it there.
Not so fast Quasimodo...........I understand he requires that you provide the original warranty plate or a picture of the original with other paperwork.
from the website step 2
note where is says (optional)
also where it says if missing or illegible you can skip this step.
Also no need to call me Quasimodo. I know it's a joke but I don't find it funny
