65 grill?

I just saw this on e-bay (link below)

61 62 63 64 65 66 1961 1962 1963 1964 1965 1966 Ford Truck Grille | eBay

I remember reading that 65 grills are very hard to find so thought I would pass the link along. Sorry if I am wrong about the 65 part. We have two 66s and it is certainly not that year.

C5TZ-8200-B = 1965 F100/750 Custom Cab/Ranger anodized aluminum grille.

September 1965: FoMoCo obsoleted the 1965 grilles, replaced them with 1966 grilles for use as service part replacements.

But, is this an anodized grille or a steel grille (C5TZ-8200-A) that has been chromed?

It's missing all the black accents and looks too shiny to be a 49+ year old anodized aluminum grille which tends to begin to fade to a dull grey after only a few years.

'Course someone coulda "gankstakrized" it, by stripping off the anodizing...then polishing it.

Pics are low-quality so looks better than it is in person. Has anodizing intact.

I know the anodizing is in tact. The area around the headlight bezels show faded black paint.
What gets me is the hole on the drivers side of the shell, about midway on the outer part of shell. If you look at drivers side headlight bezel keep looking right and you'll see it.
You got to look fast because the grille did sell. so these pictures won't be available much longer.
Also noticed at least two mounting tabs were torn.
If it was one of my grilles all that would be fixed and the grille would have an amazing shine to it.

I don't know much about 65 grilles, but I'm parting a '65 custom cab, salvaging needed parts for my 66 restoration, and have a super-clean (yet oxidized) aluminum '65 grille if someone is looking.

65 grill

Has anyone taken a steel 65 grill and chromed it? I was thinking about doing this with my painted white one instead of finding an aluminum or chrome one. Maybe too expensive, I haven't had anything chromed lately.

I believe Gangstakr has before. He's also getting one chrome powder coated and will be posting results when it's finished. Chrome plating can and has been done on the steel grilles. Very hard to get a nice clean straight finish as any imperfections will show unless you prep it very good also chrome plating will be expensive around 300-500 range and it's also getting harder to find places that can do it all in one bath and not have to dip half then flip it around to go for a double dip. leaves a line you can tell that it wasn't done all at once

I'm chroming a 67 grille right now. The grille was to perfect to powder coat.
Chroming prices have gone up considerably. You can get a grille chromed for about $300.00 - $400.00 but it won't last, maybe six months to a year. Good chrome is $500.00 - $700.00
The modified 66 grille on my truck was just chromed to the tune of $700.00 just for the chrome. I probably have about $1300.00 invested in my grille.
See my grille at this thread.
