back spline wont turn?

Hey guys, I just put my engine and tranny back in my truck yesterday, and I noticed when I turn the engine via the harmonic balancer, the back spline of the transmission. will not turn. Ive tried in every gear. Is that normal? Or should I pull my tranny back out? (hope not lol) Thanks for any help.

What transmission? It's not an automatic by any chance, is it?

Yes, its a C6. My dad noticed the back spline not turning, and we decided to figure that out before installing the driveshaft.

C6, don't worry. An automatic stays in neutral regardless of what gear it's in until the engine is running.
Automatics work off of hydraulic pressure. Without the engine running, driving the front pump of the transmission, there's no pressure.
The only "gear" an automatic has that can be manually selected is "park". The reason automatics have a park gear is because, without the engine running, they automatically go into neutral.
