94 e-150 high idle and shifting problems
im working on my father-inlaws van
94 e150 5.8l
it is idling high i would say in the 2000 range (no Tach) but every once in a while it settles down and idles normal
i cant find any more vacuum leaks
no check engine light
it also has a shifting problem ware it seems to be hunting gears
any suggestions

You will not always get a CEL on with some engine problems.
If you can get a scanner on it, see what codes it has stored in the PCM.
From what your describing, it sounds like your having some EGR problems.
If your having EGR problems, the PCM is over compensating the lean/rich mixture, that will also cause problems with the shifting points of the E4OD.
It was best that you searched out and fixed the vacuum leaks, that's the first steps to repairs.
From there, you can check the IAC, clean/replace and the TPS, replace.
But, there is no sense in throwing parts and $$ at it until you get the codes read.

There are no codes in the system
I will check the egr I completely forgot about those

When the engine isn't running right the transmission won't shift right. When you get the engine fixed most likely the trans will be fine.
