97 ford f150 4.6 romeo. Did a engine swap with a junk yard engine, all is well, just dropped it in a few weeks ago, now im getting a knocking noise on startup and when I turn on the heater. runs great other wise, no codes. any and all info would be greatly appreciated.
There is no connection for a 'motor knock' from a heater turn on.
Maybe it's the A/C compressor you hear in some positions or even the alternator under higher loads..
Seem you have not checked it out enough to see where it's coming from.
If you don't, we can't either.
Good luck.

checked and replaced tensioner, replaced alternator, didn't work, still makes the knocking noise on start up and when I turn on heater. And Bluegrass that's why I cant figure it out, lol cant make the connection between the heater and the engine knock. im thinking its the water pump???? im still running the one that was on the engine when I swapped it, and all the timing, still kept all the new timing set from the old engine just in case I might need it. or it may be oil pump, but I cant seem to make the connection to the knocking when turning heater on. the only connection im making is the water pump??? What do you think?
I think im going to pull belt off and run it just for a minute tomorrow and see if I get the same knocking noise, that will tell me if it is in that area??? what do you think?
