Noisy Heater

Hi everyone. For some reason lately whenever I turn on the heater on my 97 Ranger I get a clicking type of noise that is coming from somewhere on the passenger side.

It's not just the heater but even the fan will make this noise. At first I thought maybe a leaf was stuck inside somewhere, but now I'm not so sure. Sometimes there is no noise at all, but it always comes back and it gets loud sometimes.

Is this something I could possibly fix myself or do I need to have it looked at?

I guess about the only thing left is to take the blower motor out & see what's in there......

I've never done this before though and wouldn't even know where to start. Is it something very complicated or something I could probably do myself?

Should be something you can easily do yourself...... Look in your engine compartment on the passenger side on the firewall, should see a round blower motor & their should be 4 bolts holding it in.....

Ok. And if I don't see anything in there could it be a worn out part possibly?

Although I still get heat and everything so I wouldn't think something is wearing out, but I'm not very knowledged about this.

Just take the fan motor out of the vehicle, take a larger rubber hose that is taped to the tip of a shop vac, turn it on, and do what comes naturally with a vac but this time in the inlet area. Hopefully a leaf will come out.
