A little background history:
2005 Excursion 6.0L 110K.
The last couple days my cooling fan has been kicking on and off a lot. so I checked the coolant level and it was WAY low. It took 1.5 gallons to fill the tank to the minimum level. Two hours after adding the coolant and engine light comes on, so I scan it. And this is what a got:

EGR
Pull Egr valve and see if it's damp or wet. Egr cooler probably leaking
Puking white smoke during idling and drinking coolant again. So I guess that answers that question. Now do I replace the EGR or delete it? My truck is registered in Minnesota so no emissions. What to do.?.?
My mechanic is suggesting a bulletproof oil cooler and new oem oil cooler along with all the upgrades that need to be done. (Stand pipes, dummy plugs, SCT)
He then says to get a tuner to turn off the egr system. He believes this to be the best solution. Would work for you as you could simply turn the egr system back on when you need to pass emissions.
I will do these suggestions when the time comes. For now I am monitoring temps.

I meant to write that there are no emissions in Minnesota. I read that the bullet proof EGR is not as efficient at cooling as the OEM even though it is more durable. I am contemplating welding my OEM EGR cooler and rebuilding my OEM oil cooler.
It is my understanding that by using a tuner to turn off the Egr system it will eliminate the exhaust gases from entering the egr cooler. Not sure if that's how it would work? Still researching on the best solution. My biggest fear with a egr delete is the EPA flexing their muscle and enforcing emissions everywhere. That would be my luck. I guess nothing is perfect? I am looking for the best fix and staying legal when I would need too. LOL
