Does anyone know where the tach lead is at on an 88 7.3? My tach in my truck doesn't work because I changed the cabs from a 250 to a 150 cab and I don't know where the tack lead is from the 7.3. Any help would be useful. Thx
Um, the tach sender is on top of the IP gear cover(this has the oil-fill cap on it). It has two wires coming out of it, and it screws into the drivers side of that cover.
Is one hot and the other ground or will they both be hot? I appreciate the response.
The sender produces an AC signal, so they will both be 'hot', though the signal is extremely low.
Which way you hook up the wires from the sender to the plug does not matter.
However, one of the two wires going from that plug to the tach is grounded, which makes the other one 'hot'(varying from + voltage to - voltage) with respect to that ground.
