tach only works sometimes

tach only works sometimes
my 82 f100 tach only works sometimes can anyone help, like sometimes it will work perfect, and sometimes it wont even move at all, here latley it hasnt worked a bit. is it in my wiring, or what?

Ok, under the hood, near the DS2 module, there should be a plug with 2 wires (1 green, 1 black), if this is a 6 cyl, the black will only be on side, V8 it will be on both sides. Make sure that plug is making a good connection, as that's the tach wires. The green is tach signal, and black is the "V8 Corrector". The green wire then travels thru the harness into the cab, and to the "Tach" post of the coil.
