Have you cleaned out the fuel tank and or checked the sending unit (in the tank) sock filter? Sounds like a fuel delivery issue....maybe the rubber fuel lines from the tank to the solid frame lines fwd are bad?
Dry rotted lines and sucking a little air is a hard start issue.
it does not have ECM. I had a buddy check the points since I haven't learned the good or bad with that as of yet and he said it was good.
For what they cost, I would replace the points and condenser. Visually, you can't tell if a condenser is good or bad.
One thing, if you do replace the points, be sure to clean the contact surfaces.
Now days points may sit on the shelf for months, if not years, before they're used. They will develop an oxide coating on the contacts that will insulate them electrically.
Use some very fine sandpaper, fold it over so the abrasive is on both sides and run it between the contacts. Once you do that run a piece of paper between the contacts. This is to get rid of any abrasive left, a dollar bill works well.
Also, you need to put a very thin film of grease on the distributor cam ( a little capsule of grease should come with the points). Install the points and gap at .017".
