So I bit the bullet and purchased a 24" LED Light bar to accent the other lighting upgrades I did recently.
WOW. Talk about bright. I paid $145 for two of them on Amazon for it and have been blown away by the output and performance thus far. Even better, it had ALL 100% positive reviews. So I'm thinking it should hold up pretty well (crossing fingers).
I feel sorry for anyone I need to high beam flash.
Given I can buy 14 of these for the price of the rigid and won't be competing in the Baja 1000 anytime soon......I should be fine. Plus with all 5star and a few 4star reviews, it can't be that bad.
Plus, this light is extremely bright. It makes my entire street glow white. I'm talking some reallllll bright LEDs.
NO kidding on the buying a whole bunch of those for the price of a Rigid unit... That was why I was asking, I haven't done any light upgrades because of the price or if the price was Ok the reviews were not.
Did you wire to the up lifters or the High for the front and reverse for the back?
Great! I think you will be more than impressed, like I am.
I used my #2 Upfitter. It is 25amp and more than enough to power 2 of them (up to 300watts max). I ran 14awg wire (16awg would actually be more than enough). I believe switches 3&4 are 15&10amp which would be fine for running one light on each if you want. I have all my front LEDs on switch 2 and my rear LEDs on switch 3.
Ok, so you need more details. The winch mount is the Westin Max Winch mount, which includes everything but the brush guard. The system can accommodate the westin hdx brush guard, but i didn't go that route.
I already had a Aries Brushguard and didn't like how it mounted to the bumper bolts. When I attached the winch mount I noticed that the two vertical uprights of the Aries Brushguard were perfectly aligned with the outside of the Westin winch tray. I simply used a cut off wheel and removed the center portion of the Aries and attached it to the side bolt holes of the Westin tray. Perfect fit and is 100% more stable. Actually it doesn't budge when you try to move it. If you want more info on how to do this mod, let me know. It's quite simple.
Here is an early picture after I completed the mod.
I'm convinced. I ordered the recommended light bar. Thanks! Not sure when and where I will mount it yet, I'm still struggling with bumper replacements or not.
I actually used mine tonight to illuminate the ground where I was clearing some dirt at the ranch (actually collecting brass casings). It's daylight infront of my truck.
Hey IronCobra, where do you access the use of the Uplifter switches? Are they accessable at the fuse pnl or do you need to pull the from the dash? Seems that as a purposed option, they should be easy to utilize!
