Question

I've been thinking of replacing my PIAA light (one died due to poor quality control) with a light bar in the lower grill (see gallery). I've been a little concerned about snow and ice build up over the light while following traffic in inclement weather.

Would I be better served with a curved 54" light mounted to the top of my Ranch Hand guard?

Also, the light is advertised as 24". How tight is the fit in the lower grill?

If that is the case, I would mount it above the windshield. By far the best projection and overall reach. Either a 50" curved or straight bar would work fine. You could do what I did and mount a couple on the sides of the upright supports of your ranch hand guard.

I ordered one of the lights on here and was looking at this bracket from rigid. It looks like it is somewhat of a universal fit regarding the light bar. Rigid says it is for a 20" light bar and these are 24". Is this what you used to mount your light with?

I didn't use that bracket. however, if you measure the actual light bar it is only 20". The two removable side brackets accounts for the additional 4".

Same with the Rigid light bar, except the brackets are a little smaller on the Rigid.

I received my light yesterday. I'm going to take it to my Ranch Hand installers next week when my Caribou Bed Liner painted replacement bumpers get sprayed. They said they would weld on two mounting nuts to my lower bar for a rock steady mount. They will also spray the light with the same material as the bumpers. Sounded good to me....we will see.

I powered up the light early this morning and it was missing 3 LED. I am returning to Amazon. Is yours still working?

That sucks. Yeah, I actually washed the truck through a touchless pressure washer after driving through a bad storm that passed through and going off-road to get to my ranch and it's still shining bright, no LEDs are out. Sorry you had problems.

Edit: Here is mine, just ran out to take a picture. Also a picture of the Tailgater Punisher I just finished installing.

Ordered

I ordered the light bar and bracket. I'm hoping I can modify the existing PIAA wiring to work with the new light.

Thanks again for the light bar recommendation. I've been looking of quite some time.

No problem, I hope it works out for you. I hate hearing about something I recommend is having problems for someone. Mine have been great, but Donovan had a problem with his,

Your piaa wiring should work fine. Even better if they already have a relay. Never hurts to have a relay, those these don't require one.

The great thing about amazon prime is their shipping and return policy.

Donovan,

If no one has taken you up on it I will. If you still have it PM me with what you want for it.
