Ok i posted this in the bornco forum but i wanted to see what was thought down here in exhaust.....I am installing a Bassani Y-pipe on my bronco....I can't seem to get everything to line up right...the cat is angled down and on the skid plate can I just brace it up in the right place then tighten everything down then pull the brace, and it stay?
Ok i am gonna bring this one back to the top....I seem to be having a leak...I just installed the y-pipe but I have tried line it up right but can't seem to get it just right...anybody got some hints?
Got a bassani ordered for my bronc. and i saw a set of "bronco flanges" for sale as a seperate piece. From what I'v read it depends on what type of manifold/headers you are running as to whether you need the flange kit or not. Mught need them if you're running stock manifolds or headers other than bassani's.
Good luck.
P.S.
What kind of power difference did you notice with the y-pipe?
Yea I did get teh flanges with the pipe....my problem was that I torqed down one side with out doing the other so the bracket was pushing on the other nut so I thought it was tight but really I just wasn't paying attention
There is a definate Toruqe inceease I can feel that as I acceleate from stop. I hopped on the Highway just for fun ytesterday and it actaully runs at a lower RPM now and there is a bit more passing power. I love it.
Good deal. Got my off-road pipe in today, installed. Guess i shoulda got the bronc. flanges but i didnt know they existed when i ordered the pipe. Got a grating leak at both collectors on my hedman shorties. Other than that, nice pipe, good fit. Can't tell yet about my own performance gains as my ears can't handle more than 1/4 pedal.
Roscoe, does the off-road pipe have all the other emmissions stuff accept the cat? The reason I'm asking is that I was stupid and bought a cat before discovering Bassani and I'm trying to see if I can just buy the off-road pipe and put the cat on the back, problem solved. would that work? It's 2.5", right?
The bassani off-road pipe does have o2 and air tube hookups. That's all the emissions stuff an eec-iv truck needs. The las piece of pipe on the bassani is 3", but, there is some straight 2.5" pipe running into that so your 2.5" cat should be able to work if you're willing to whack off the end of the bassani pipe. I'll be adding a 3" cat shortly and for a lot less than the $100 price diff btw the catted and non catted versoins. Good luck
Good deal, should be no problem then. There are several places where you could cut the 3" section to put your cat. I'm looking at doin it just after the pipe turns 3". That way i can keep the whole deal short and dump the exhaust before the rear wheels. Good luck
I'm trying to keep my cat around where the second stock one is. I'll see how it works out, I ordered it last night. I don't have a bronco though, I have an F150.
The bassani pipe turns 3" right around where the second cat was on my stock setup, so hopefully it'll turn out alright. For now i'm enjoying the sound of no cat and a single chamber flowmaster
