It seems the more I take this engine apart the more questions come up. So the crank is a C7TE6303A which means its a 361 FT not a 390 FE like I was told. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing?

Nothing wrong with the 361. What kind of a truck is it going in and what do you plan on doing with it?

So the front cover is iron with a motor mount provision? And the crank diameter is 1 3/4"?

My plan was for it to go into a 69 F250. I dont have any special plans for the truck, besides to get it moving again. The front motor mount had it own bracket, if I do put it in the truck I will just not put the bracket on. I am just worried about finding parts for it.

I think he meant you have a FT not a FE.

You can tell by the two piece water pump, larger front shaft on crank 1.750" for the FT and 1.375" for the FE.

You can also tell by the bottom shaft diameter of the distributor, the FT uses a 5/16" oil pump drive shaft and the FE uses a 1/4" shaft.

The heads and intake manifold are different between the two. Although they will bolt to either block you have to use a FT intake with FT heads, a FE intake will only bolt onto FE heads. FT heads are very low compression and don't make very good HP.

As for the blocks the only real difference is where the distributor goes into the block. There is a bushing that can be pressed in to accept the FE distributor. You probably don't want to use the FT distributor due to it most likely having a built in governor in it.

The crankshaft you can have the front shaft milled down to the FE diameter, but in doing so you'll need an FE timing cover.

The engine in my '68 F250 has an FT block so it can be done.
