Question V10 Chip

Looking for a little more boost for my 2001 V10.
1. Are chips worth it??
2. Do they cause any issues and void warrenty.??

I am curious to hear from people who have installed any kind of chip on a V10 and what the results were.
Thanks

The only issue that I have heard of is the need to buy high octane fuel if you run the chip.

I recently put in the diablo delta switch chip and love it! A little performance gain and it almost shifts like a truck now! Worth the $240 for sure.

Check the computer tuning forum for the FAQ. Ken is the man in there.

No matter what anyone says, remove the chip before going in for service. 1, it will throw a code if the techs hook up to the computer, 2 the will then void your warranty.

I have aquestion, do you have to take apart the trucks computer to install this chip, or does it simply plug into the outside of the computer? I appreciate all the help!!

well i wish installing a chip was simple. i could write a book here explaining in detail every aspect of what to do to put in a chip but you can call or email superchip and they will email you directions on how to do it. from diconnecting your battery to unscrewing the main bolt in the middle of the computer from the engine compartment side to cleaning the clear plastic insulant on the main board where the chip mounts on, its really not that big of a deal. BUT for sure the main thing you want to do is make sure that the computer board is CLEAN of all debris. if you got a clean connection, you have a working chip!!!

I have added the programing from a Superchips Max Micro Tuner to my 2001 E-350 V10. It is the simplest mod I have ever made! I just pluged into the diagnostic port (mine is just under the steering wheel) and pressed the buttons as instructed by the tuner readout. Make your selections as to power and shifts and you are done. It took me 7 minutes! The recomended octaine is 91 however I just finished a 3800 mile vacation on 87 with no sign of an octaine knock.
